Every input and every weight behind this score is written down, and our ledger marks which values are our own assumptions rather than published sources, so you can take the whole thing apart. What has not happened is the test: no dog has been followed to an outcome, so the number has never been checked against how long dogs actually lived. Running that test is the work the company is doing, and we publish the method before we publish a result.

Questions, answered

Straight answers about the score

Is the longevity score a medical test or a diagnosis?

No. It's an educational wellness estimate, not a medical device and not a diagnosis: it never detects or screens for disease, and it's not a reason to start, stop, or change any treatment. Only your veterinarian can diagnose your dog and interpret results for them.

Why a range instead of a number of years?

Because lifespan is genuinely uncertain, and a false-precision date would be both wrong and cruel. We show a model-derived remaining-life band, like 7.6–12.2 years, never a death date, healthspan label, or promise that a habit will add a quantified number of years.

How much should I trust it?

Less than you would trust a test, more than you would trust a guess: we do not yet have a prospective accuracy estimate. Published life tables and veterinary studies inform the rule set, but Tailmates’ curve shape, weights, interval width, model standing, and biological-age transform have not been fitted or calibrated against Tailmates outcomes, so it is an inspectable pre-validation model, not an epigenetic clock or death-date predictor. What makes a score “Lab-verified”?

A licensed veterinarian reviews the panel, attests the blood values match the source lab report, corrects the extraction, and confirms an established veterinarian-client-patient relationship. Your vet reviews the panel; the lab validates the data; Tailmates computes the longevity analysis. Without that review, a lab-verified score cannot exist, no exceptions.

Does Tailmates sell supplements?

No. We don't sell supplements, treatments, or cures. Tailmates' fee covers the longevity analysis only, and your vet stays in the loop for the medicine, billing you for the visit, draw, and lab at their own rates.
