Walk style

What kind of walker is your dog?

Two dogs can walk the same block and have nothing in common doing it. One is out to cover ground. One is out to read it. Answer five questions about an ordinary walk and we will tell you which of the five your dog is.

Question 1 of 5

The leash goes on and the door opens. What happens next?

Five questions, no account, and nothing leaves this page.

The five walk styles

None of them is better than another. They are five shapes a walk takes, and a dog has the one they have.

  • Commuter

Knows the route, and walks it like there is somewhere to be.

  • Reader

    Same streets, read closely.

  • Cartographer

New ground, covered end to end.

  • Tourist

Somewhere new, and worth a good look.

  • Wildcard

    A different walk every time.

Then the walks settle it

In the app the same five types come out of the walks you were taking anyway: how readily the walk keeps moving, and how much of the route your dog already knows. Nothing about distance, speed, breed or age goes into it, so a walk style is never a verdict on how fit a dog is.
